Few Tips About Engagement Sessions

Here are a few simple tips of how you can prepare yourself to take better engagement photos:

  • Good light is all around you so paying attention to natural light… this is the one of the most important things you can do to improve your photography.
  • Be patient. At times, some of the best images come from just being patient; wait for organic moments as it happen.
  • Use prime lenses. My personal favorite is the 50mm 1.2 – I love it so much, I can shoot an entire engagement session with this lens.
  • Spot meter. When shooting back lighting you will want to spot meter for the couple’s skin tone.
  • My engagement sessions are 1 to 1.5hr. long so I usually shoot 1.5 after sunrise or 1.5 before sunset.
  • Arrive early. First of all you don’t want your clients waiting for you and you also want to arrive early to scope location for the best spots.
  • Before starting the session let the couple know it’s ok to have fun and enjoy the process.

Wedding Photography Directory : 2010 Contest

With my kids in school now, I have time to enter my photos in various photography contests.  My first photo entry is at Wedding Photography Directory.  I picked a photo from Liz and Fram’s wedding at the Waterview.  This photo was not posed.  After the ceremony, they went into the bridal party and kissed.   Noticing a mirror behind the couple, I focused on their faces in the mirror and took the shot.

Today, to my great surprise,  I learned that that photo was chosen from over 2600 entries for the finalist round.  Photographers from all over the world sent photos in for consideration in the contest.

Then, I saw it… Yes, that’s my photo. Wow.  Right away, I scrolled down to look at the images and saw my photo ………. this is mine!  Knowing that anything is possible, I am now hoping to have my photo end up in “First Place” and you can help make that happen.

Please take a moment to look at all of the images on this website and vote ….. (I hope you can vote for me)!

They met at a lounge called Mission in NYC. Sam was celebrating his birthday & Roz was celebrating her friend’s birthday….and here they are after 4 years later. I had so much fun at their wedding, their family & friends were sooo nice! Really nice!!! – One of the things I like about them is that they like to travel to different cities and together they want to visit every baseball stadium in USA … I wish them the best of luck!

Here are some pictures from her wedding at the VIP Country Club, New Rochelle NY.  I am working on her flush mount album and will share more pictures once I get her beautiful album.  😉
